Drywall Textures

Doing up your home means getting the right furnishings, choosing the right paint and overall creating a welcoming and eye-catching look. Today one has so many options while decorating a room that one is spoilt for choice. A simple and basic way to create a pleasing living space is to start with the walls. Painting and wallpapering have been done to death and the buzzword now is Drywall Textures.

Drywall Textures are not difficult to do but require the right material and technique. After the initial priming of the wall, the texture plaster is sprayed on the wall using a texture hopper. Here different Drywall Textures can be created by using different plastering processes like the Venetian plaster, Orange Peel design, Spanish Drag, Swirl, Slap Brush, and Popcorn etc

The most common texture is the Popcorn texture and is used mostly on ceilings and helps deaden sounds. In the Spanish Drag one has to hand trowel the semi dry plaster to create the finish. In Slap Brush technique, one has to use a stipple brush is used to slap down on the plaster and pulled back straight up to create the required effect.

Out of all the Drywall Textures the most coveted one is the Venetian plaster one as it gives a graceful feel to the room and is pleasing to the eye. A 3-D marble effect comes into place and you can thicken the wall according to your preference. This process offers more color variety and options.

The application of Drywall Textures requires a drywall spray rig which is a small air compressor and a drywall hopper. The spray material has to be mixed into a watery consistency and poured into the texture hopper. After properly protecting the other areas this mixture is sprayed on the wall. Then you can apply any of the Drywall Textures method you prefer.

The other option is to use a roller to apply the texture, but this can be used for light textures only not for heave textures like Popcorn. Most of the textures available at stores are easily applicable by a roller. This makes it quick and uncomplicated to do.

This is an appealing way to do up the walls, being inexpensive yet attractive on the eyes. So go ahead and change the way your house looks! This stuff is easy to do and best of all makes your home look great too!
